This is particularly true during Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage month where we collaborated with apparel retailer, Darkside Initiative, and design studio, Maekan Studios to launch the Golden Generation. An initiative celebrating those Asian Americans who are pushing the culture forward. Including musician Eileen Sho Ji, actor Daniel Wu and Michelin Star chef, Brandon Jew. Our team curated and hosted an immersive, star-studded dinner experience that helped launch an exclusive pair of Nike shoes inspired by San Francisco’s Chinatown. Collateral developed for the campaign included wild posting posters in downtown San Francisco promoting the Golden Generation, postcards featuring some of the VIP guests, and custom gift bags significant cultural holidays for the Asian American community. My role encompassed concept development, client presentations for alignment, coordination with producers on talent and logistics, shot list development, directing shoots to adhere to Toyota's brand guidelines, overseeing post-production, and securing final client approval prior to going live. The Moon Festival is a significant harvest celebration across various Asian cultures, on par with the importance of Lunar New Year.To celebrate the festival and the launch of the first-ever Grand Highlander, we chose a unique approach: crafting lanterns through light painting. Its core mission is to bring art and culture to public spaces while beautifying the city of Long Beach and cultivating community pride. The event brings together international and local artists to create murals and other forms of art and music. While the murals are the centerpiece of the Long Beach Walls activities, there’s much more to this street art festival than paint and aerosol cans. The festivities are filled with museum exhibitions, mural tours, artist talks, workshops, block parties, and concerts. For the 2023 festival, I developed the branding and guided its creative direction. Working closely with junior designers and interns, I oversaw the design of all promotional materials, including social media content, posters, a passport guidebook, badges, merchandise, apparel, and My role encompassed concept development, client presentations for alignment, coordination with producers on talent and logistics, shot list development, directing shoots to adhere to Toyota's brand guidelines, overseeing post-production, and securing final client approval prior to going live. AAPI Month in May celebrates the significant contributions and influence of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. This important holiday also coincided with the launch of the newly-redesigned Tundra. So we pitched the idea of featuring what we called "Independent Do-ers" — Asian Americans who went against the grain and forged their own paths, who are also real Tundra owners. After an exhaustive search, we selected three remarkable candidates, interviewed them, and shared their inspiring stories. My role encompassed concept development, client presentations for alignment, coordination with producers on talent and logistics, shot list development, directing shoots to adhere to Toyota's brand guidelines, overseeing post-production, and securing final client approval prior to going live. Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. A key tradition involves creating rangoli patterns outside the main entrance of your home. They symbolize happiness and positivity; and help in welcoming the goddess Lakshmi, associated with wealth and good fortune. To electrify our Diwali celebration, we featured Toyota's first-ever full EV, the bZ4X. Collaborating with a rangoli artist, we designed a custom pattern and projected it onto the ground with the vehicle as the focal point, blending tradition with modernity. A behind-the-scenes video was captured to showcase our creative process alongside the photos. In addition to the primary cultural shoot, we often captured evergreen lifestyle assets, particularly for new vehicles or those lacking content in the client's library.
